Cabinets over the centuries have changed a great deal with all the different materials and the way they are made and finished..But there purpose still remains the same...Most Cabinets now a days are mostly MDF {medium density fiberboard} is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwoods and or softwoods fibers adding wax and a resin binder and applying a lot of pressure and heat into a mold. MDF can be pretty strong but its ugly.. So a hardwood laminate is casted onto the MDF core so the cabinets have the look of solid hardwoods in most cases the frames of the cabinets will be oak or another type of hardwood.. Some cabinets may have solid wood doors and frames but the interior is MDF often times with a wood looking vinyl .And of course we have Solid wood cabinets which are almost always custom made and very expensive..

Cabinet refacing starts with a visit from a salesman who will take measurements and have you pick what type of finish and style you want.. Then the salesman will call in the order..Then the factory will then fill the order and deliver the laminate and new cabinet fronts and drawers .. Then a contractor will show up and begin the process of refacing your existing cabinets they will remove all your old door and draw fronts measure and cut the laminate sheets to the size needed most laminates have a peel and stick backing. Then they will prep the surface and apply the laminate. .and last but not least..install the new door and drawer fronts..do touch-ups and there you have it.. oh we almost forgot it can be costly. very costly,

Refinishing your cabinets is the most cost effective way to enhance the beauty and bring them up to date..At United Painters Indy we have refinishing down to a science. After your free at home consultation we will return to remove all door and draw fronts and hardware load it all up to take to our shop ..after the door and drawer fronts have been removed off the base units...we start preparing the surface by sanding and wiping. .after wards we apply a primer to all the base units then let them set and cure.. Then we start the refinishing process in our shop.. spray a primer coat...and a finish coat. .let them set in our spray booth to dry and cure . Once dry we apply new gel bumpers.. deliver them back to you.. apply a finish to the base units then reinstall all the hardware, doors. drawers. .All DONE..the enhancement of new cabinets..without the cost..
